Mental Health Program

Restoration for Health
The Ganja Psychiatric Hospital is one of the main psychiatric care facilities for Western and Central Azerbaijan and is only a five-minute walk away from our office. It is presently home to around 147 residents in 4 wards. Mental health care continues to be a developing area in Azerbaijan, as it is in many Western countries, and has a low profile within the health sector.
By providing music, painting, and handicraft classes we have regular interactions with the patients reminding them of skills, talents, and interests they had before coming to the hospital. We also organize special events at some holidays to help bring an extra touch of vitality to their lives.
Another aspect that we are glad to be a part of is working with the doctors to identify which patients are ready to return home. Patients sometimes remain at the hospital longer than necessary because families cannot afford to have them back or are uncertain what their return home could mean. Since working at the hospital CARD has helped return over 70 patients to their homes in all pats of Western and Central Azerbaijan.
Currently we do not have a coordinator for our Mental Health Program
